Where the Mountain Meets the Moon

A Georgia Book Award nominee and Caldecott Honor book is our next book club book! I am very excited about this one.

Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is a timeless adventure story in the classic tradition of The Wizard of Oz. A fantasy crossed with Chinese folklore, a young girl named Minli sets out on an adventure to find the Old Man on the Moon and ask him how her family can change their fortune.

Check out this book trailer to see more!

We will meet Monday, March 5 during lunch in the media center. This is a really large group so please remember to return your book as soon as you are done with it so we can pass it on to the next person. In the meantime, check out your local public library to see if they have a copy.

Savvy

Savvy by Ingrid Law is our next book club pick. It is definitely a book that is hard NOT to judge by its cover. With the all the beautiful colors and heavy swirls, it is one book that you will want to give a second glance. So, 4th grade, we are reading it and going to find out what this book is all about!

The Beaumont family has a magical secret, a special power or a "savvy", they get when they turn thirteen. Some move mountains, some create hurricanes or even spark electricity! Now it's Mibs' birthday and her turn to find out her savvy. Sadly though, two days before her birthday the family learns that Poppa has been in a terrible accident. Mibs is determined that her new power can save her dad so she sneaks away to rescue him...and so her adventure begins.

What is Mibs' special power? Can she really save her dad? Read with us this month and find out more! We will meet during lunch in the media center on Monday, January 23. Remember, if you don't get a copy right away you can check out your local library.

Happy Reading!
